About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Analyst to join our team at Clarivate Analytics US LLC. As a Patent Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive searches and providing written opinions on the patentability of diverse technologies.

This is a remote position, and you will work independently as a contractor, supporting our contract with the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). You will be expected to perform the work in accordance with the terms of a consulting agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive searches to locate relevant prior art
  • Prepare written opinions applying the most relevant prior art to the disclosure
  • Maintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and other proprietary databases of technical publications
  • Stay abreast of best practices and changes to search procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Clarivate's Code of Business Ethics and Corporate Conduct
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or related field
  • 1+ year of experience working with patents or in the intellectual property field
  • 1+ year of work experience in the industry or advanced research in a related field
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to complete projects against deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous patent examining/patent searching experience
  • Highly skilled developing a search methodology and conducting searches
  • Experience with Orbit, PatBase, Google Scholar, or PatSeer
  • Master's degree or PhD
Work Environment

This is a remote position, and you will work independently as a contractor. You will be expected to have a secure work location and a reliable, high-speed internet connection.

You will be required to have a computer running up-to-date versions of Windows or Mac OS, a phone and voicemail service for business communication, and a dedicated internet bandwidth of at least 10 Mbps of download speed and 1 Mbps of upload speed.
