Special Education Teacher, Curriculum Support Specialist

Job Title: Curriculum Support Teacher
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Curriculum Support Teacher to join our team at Northeast Metro 916 Intermediate School District. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the special education program for middle school students with developmental cognitive disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and deliver instructional activities to students, including adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Develop and implement curriculum, establish learning objectives, and prepare and evaluate lesson plans.
- Assess student progress and competency mastery, including identifying appropriate assessment methods, developing and administering tests, and providing performance feedback.
- Manage student behavior, including developing and implementing classroom rules and disciplinary procedures, and providing interventions and strategies to address behavior issues.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records, including grades, achievements, development, and attendance.
- Participate in meetings, including parent or guardian conferences, special education briefings, staff and/or committee meetings, and staff development sessions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and license or ability to obtain a license from the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) in Autism Spectrum Disorders (K-12) or Developmental Disabilities (K-12).
- Knowledge of applicable learning theories and teaching methods, curriculum development, student assessment methods, proactive behavior management, classroom management principles and practices, and instructional methods and practices.
- Skills in developing, implementing, and evaluating lessons, assessing student achievement and learning, identifying and utilizing instructional resources and/or specialized resources, managing classroom behavior, and maintaining applicable student records.
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will work in a highly structured, safe learning environment with classrooms of 4-10 students supported by 1-4 trained education assistants. The position requires the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals, including audiologists, behavior specialists, deaf/blind specialists and interveners, autism specialists, developmental adaptive physical education teachers, education assistants, health specialists, occupational therapists and assistants, physical/other health disabilities teachers, physical therapists and assistants, school psychologists, school nurses, school social workers, speech/language pathologists, and sign language interpreters.
