Special Education Teacher

Northeast Metro 916 Intermediate School District is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. This position will focus on teaching students with emotional behavioral disorders in grades K-8.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized educational plans to promote students' educational, physical, or social development.
- Teach students in assigned disciplines in classrooms, small groups, or at home, adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
- Administer tests to help determine students' developmental levels, needs, or potential.
- Confer with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, or administrators to resolve students' behavioral or academic problems.
- Bachelor's degree and license or ability to obtain a license from the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) in Emotional Behavior Disorders (K-12).
- Knowledge of applicable learning theories and teaching methods, curriculum development, student assessment methods, proactive behavior management, classroom management principles and practices, and instructional methods and practices.
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate lessons, assess student achievement and learning, identify and utilize instructional resources and/or specialized resources, manage classroom behavior, develop assessment materials, modify lesson plans for specialized populations, maintain applicable student records, apply local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations, prepare and maintain records and reports, and operate a computer and applicable software applications.
Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
