Key Responsibilities- Manage a team of software engineers responsible for the entire software development lifecycle.
- Assist in the development and implementation of departmental vision and strategies regarding people, processes, and tools.
- Collaborate with program stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet technical quality, cost, and schedule objectives by gathering and reporting metrics.
- Coordinate with program leadership to manage software staffing profiles for a large team of software engineers.
- Participate in program functional support activities to improve execution, including process audits, independent review team evaluations, tiger teams, root cause analysis, and pre-milestone reviews.
- Provide excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.
- Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support the National Software organization policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Accountable for implementing improvements across employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top software talent.
- Periodically evaluate, measure, and report software depth of knowledge requirements of critical skills to mentor, develop, and train team members.
- Interfacing with all levels of leadership to maintain and exceed health and performance for programs.
- Champion engagement activities to improve the workplace environment.
- Assist with employee performance management, goal development, career counseling, performance evaluations and reviews, leadership development, and knowledge retention.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 9 years of software engineering experience, or Master's degree with 7 years of software engineering experience, or PhD with 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Prior experience in leading a software team of at least 10 employees across the full software development lifecycle.
- Experience with one or more of the following software development languages/technologies: C/C++, Java, Python, C#.
- Currently possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Demonstrated experience with leading incorporation of agile methodologies.
- Experience within the aerospace/defense industry.
- Advanced degree in a STEM field.
- Agile project management experience.
- Knowledge and experience with secure software development lifecycle concepts.
- Experience in functional management.
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Self-directed technical leader with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent communication (written, oral, and presentation) and engagement skills.
