Job Summary

The Middlesex Corporation is a leading heavy civil construction company seeking a highly skilled Superintendent - Civil/Rail to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure construction team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing units to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with project managers to plan and organize job activities, ensuring timely completion and quality work.
  • Oversee time sheets, labor, and equipment, as well as daily reports, to maintain accurate project records.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Manage and maintain the overall bridge schedule, ensuring timely completion and quality work.
  • Monitor crew productivity and goals daily, providing feedback and guidance as needed.
  • Review and submit weekly accountability reports, highlighting project progress and challenges.
  • Have a clear understanding of pay parameters and specifications by item, ensuring accurate project costing.
  • Provide a three-week look-ahead schedule to the General Superintendent, ensuring proactive project planning.
  • Conduct daily huddles, stretching exercises, and weekly Tool Box Talks with the crew, promoting a culture of safety and teamwork.
  • Develop material handling plans with foremen, ensuring efficient and safe project execution.
  • Identify extra work or change of conditions and report to the project manager/project engineer, ensuring timely and accurate project updates.
  • Ensure delivery receipts are collected and submitted to field engineers, maintaining accurate project records.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering.
  • At least 5 years' experience in heavy civil track/rail construction environment.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Knowledge of ballasted, embedded track, and transit operations, as well as railroad industry safety standards, material procurement, and labor contracts.
  • Extensive experience in track and infrastructure component repair, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and installation.
  • Ability to schedule track outages with work train usage and power removal.
  • Capable of estimating manpower and material support for operating and capital work, providing required tooling and equipment.
