Inventory Specialist

The Inventory Technician plays a vital role in maintaining accurate inventory counts in stocking locations and evaluating inventory levels. This position requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to operate powered pallet trucks and portable hydraulic equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate inventory counts in stocking locations as assigned by the Manager
• Assemble specialty carts as assigned; deliver supplies and equipment to all patient care areas as assigned
• Evaluate inventory levels and recommend adjustments based on historical supply use and the needs of the patient care area
• Communicate recommended inventory level adjustments, stock outs and back order status to appropriate Nursing staff representative and Manager
• Use handheld barcode scanning device(s) to order and/or issue supplies for the assigned stocking location(s)
• Conduct cycle counts on a regular basis of all JIT and special order supplies as directed by the Manager
• Check and regularly rotate supplies with expiration dates to the front of the storage location; remove outdated (expired) supplies from inventory stocking location(s) and dispose of them per manufacturer's instructions
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions
• Inventory/stockroom related experience preferred
• Prefer knowledge of medical terminology and medical supplies
• Ability to operate powered pallet trucks and portable hydraulic equipment
• Ability to use personal computer and various software applications including: Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Detail-oriented with proven organizational and problem-solving skills
• Actively participates in staff in-service educational program when required
