Job Summary
UTMB Health seeks a skilled Vocational Nurse to provide direct nursing care to patients in a correctional setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in nursing principles and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including administering medications and treatments.
- Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given.
- Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
- Review and modify the plan of care as needed, under supervision.
- Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients, consistent with the state medical plan of care.
- Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status.
- Follow physician's orders in the delivery of nursing care.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records.
- Adhere to required infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Document nursing care in all assigned patient records.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent.
- Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
- No experience required.
- Current BLS-HP required.
