ROLE DETAILS
We are in search of an ESL instructor (Pre-K-8th grade) dedicated to ReNEW's mission of ensuring that all of our PK-8th grade learners are academically and emotionally equipped to access the full spectrum of life opportunities that are the fundamental right of every child in New Orleans.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct language assessments at the start of the academic year to determine student placement in ESL classes.
  • Deliver direct instruction in ESL classes tailored to groups of students based on their language proficiency levels.
  • Monitor and track student progress data in both pull-out ESL groups and general classroom settings.
  • Collaborate with general education staff and school leadership to facilitate student access to the curriculum.
  • Establish positive, supportive relationships with families of English Language Learner (ELL) students.
  • Administer state assessments, including ELPT and LEAP, to evaluate student progress.
  • Provide quality, objective-driven professional development to staff as needed.

  • Exhibit content expertise by planning rigorous, engaging lessons aligned with Louisiana Student Standards using Tier 1 curriculum.
  • Differentiate learning needs for all students, providing necessary accommodations and modifications to ensure every student is supported.
  • Utilize student progress and assessment data to evaluate and adjust instruction as required.
  • Engage in meaningful professional development coaching to foster improvement.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with parents and staff to ensure students are making significant academic and social progress.
  • Persevere through an academically challenging curriculum and extended school hours.
  • Participate in both school and network-wide coaching and maintain a solution-oriented approach.
  • Celebrate the positive impact educators have as role models for students and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the expectations outlined above, you will bring the following to your school and students:

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • 2+ years of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Experience and success with historically underserved student populations
  • Teaching certification (preferred and required for early childhood and Special Education)
  • Strong content knowledge in your area of instruction
  • A commitment and personal responsibility to do whatever it takes to prepare our students for college and beyond
