City Harvest stands as New York's pioneering and largest food rescue organization, dedicated to alleviating hunger for millions of New Yorkers facing food insecurity. City Harvest collaborates with community partners to enhance local capacity, expand nutrition education, and fortify local food systems. Since our inception in 1982, we have consistently worked to nourish our city, one meal and one individual at a time.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary objective of this role is to uphold a collaborative partnership between External Relations and Finance, ensuring comprehensive reconciliation of fundraising donation records with the financial ledger. Key responsibilities include performing reconciliations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. This position also involves managing financial transaction adjustments to guarantee accuracy across both systems. Specific duties encompass:

  • Utilizing expertise in gift processing to devise innovative approaches for reconciling fundraising financial transactions with the accounting system.
  • Overseeing the gift entry process to ensure precise recording in donor databases.
  • Collaborating closely with Direct Response vendors to reconcile donations in Raiser's Edge and Finance.
  • Supporting various accounting and development projects as needed.
  • Evaluating incoming donation processes in The Raiser's Edge fundraising database to maintain accurate informational workflows.
  • Generating complex Microsoft Excel formula modifications and adding fields to financial reconciliation documents.
  • Reconciling all types of fundraising donations with the Finance Department on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Managing the External Relations gift adjustment process, including maintaining logs and entries in database systems.
  • Leading special initiatives and projects related to financial transactions within donor database systems.
  • Assisting the External Relations Operations team with special projects concerning financial reconciliations, such as annual Finance audit preparations and executive reporting.
  • Creating innovative solutions to enhance financial reconciliation workflows for improved efficiency.
  • Providing support to External Relations staff to ensure accurate execution of gift processes.
  • Coordinating updates to gift processing procedures and troubleshooting transaction processing errors for precise financial reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit or fundraising operations.
  • Proficiency in Raiser's Edge fundraising software (mandatory).
  • Experience with Luminate and RE NXT is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Import-O-Matic and Research Point is advantageous.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office 365 Suite, particularly Excel, along with experience using SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of FileZilla is a plus.
  • Experience with mass batch imports in CRM software is preferred.
  • Understanding of nonprofit fiscal accounting principles.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills.
  • Direct experience managing cash, check, EFT, and credit card donations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to function as a collaborative partner with Finance.
  • Demonstrated initiative in work responsibilities.
