Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Services Specialist to join our team at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC). As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for supervising civilian staff and assisting in managing, developing, organizing, implementing, and maintaining a diversified food service program for the inmate population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate food preparation and serving operations to ensure timely and efficient service to inmates.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of inmates, including medical and religious diets.
  • Establish and maintain high standards of sanitation, safety, and security in food service operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless food service operations, including Health Services, Receiving and Discharge, and Special Housing Units.
  • Supervise and train staff to ensure they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
  • GS-12: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this grade level.
  • Specialized Experience: At least one year of experience in food service operations, including supervising and coordinating food preparation and serving operations, developing and implementing menus, and establishing and maintaining high standards of sanitation, safety, and security.
Working Conditions

This position requires occasional travel for training and work-related issues. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly in emergency situations.
