Food Service Administrator

Job Summary
The California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking a highly skilled Food Service Administrator to oversee the food service and dietary activities in a correctional facility health care program. The ideal candidate will have experience in planning, organizing, and directing food service and dietary activities, as well as working with clinical personnel on nutrition assessments and dietary interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct all food service and dietary activities in a correctional facility health care program.
- Work with clinical personnel on nutrition assessments, needs, dietary interventions, and strategies.
- Develop, interpret, and apply standards and procedures governing the operation of the food service department.
- Plan menus, estimate food requirements, and direct the preparation and service of food in accordance with the State food control system.
- Inspect food facilities for compliance with sanitary, safety, and housekeeping standards.
- Plan and conduct In-Service Training (IST) programs for food service staff.
Requirements
- One year of experience in California state service performing the duties of a Dietitian.
- Or one year of experience in a hospital as a dietitian, nutritionist, or food service manager, with responsibility for the technical direction of a group of diet pantry employees.
- Or three years of experience as a dietitian, nutritionist, or food service manager with responsibility for the technical direction of a group of dietary unit employees, one year of which must have been under the supervision of a professionally trained dietitian.
Additional Information
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
