Incentives:
This role is eligible for the Clinical Laboratory Program Incentives, including a Commitment Incentive of $10,000 for a two-year commitment or a Loan Tuition Forgiveness of $15,000 for a four-year commitment for full-time new hires.
Position Summary:
The Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting a variety of patient tests and performing administrative duties to support clinical operations within the UNC Healthcare System. The ideal candidate should possess a degree in Medical Lab Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, with preference given to those with generalist laboratory experience. Evening shift differentials are applicable.
Work Schedule:
This position supports the evening shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
- Investigate issues related to equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
- Participate in teams or undertake special projects and assignments.
- Provide training for Clinical Laboratory Science students and new employees, serving as a technical resource.
- Conduct quality control and maintain equipment in the designated laboratory.
- Perform routine and specialized testing procedures, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological tests, while observing reactions and reporting data.
- Prepare specimens and reagents as necessary.
- Report results to healthcare providers and consult regarding test outcomes.
- Review test results to ensure accuracy and timely correction of errors.
Education Requirements:
● A Bachelor's of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of hire.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming exam eligible.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● No prior experience is necessary.
