Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform a variety of microbiological testing and analysis on clinical specimens to assist in diagnosing infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and specialized microbiology testing on clinical specimens, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.
  • Utilize advanced microbiological techniques, such as culture, identification, and susceptibility testing.
  • Analyze and interpret results, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to physicians and healthcare teams.
  • Monitor quality control and ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth workflow and handle specimens efficiently.
  • Record and document test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Follow strict safety protocols when handling infectious materials.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in microbiology and lab practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification as a Medical Technologist.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in microbiological testing and knowledge of infectious diseases.
  • Experience working with laboratory information systems (LIS).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently during off-peak hours and manage time effectively.

Work Environment:

  • Clinical laboratory setting.
  • Evening shifts (1:00 PM - 11:00 PM) Monday through Thursday.
