Position Summary

The Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will collaborate closely with our oncology teams to ensure the highest quality of care for patients across our network. This role involves managing pharmacy services in accordance with established guidelines, regulatory standards, and best practices to promote safe and effective treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

Adhere to organizational policies and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including therapeutic monitoring and lab value interpretation for various treatment modalities. Provide expert advice on medication selection and dosing based on the latest clinical evidence. Manage medication orders efficiently, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Evaluate medication profiles for appropriateness, safety, and effectiveness, seeking clarification when necessary. Identify additional testing needs to support therapeutic decisions. Assist in transitioning inpatient treatment plans to outpatient protocols as required. Collaborate with healthcare practitioners on supportive care and treatment modifications. Engage in quality improvement projects with medical staff. Work with patient assistance teams to secure necessary medications for patients. Promote teamwork and assist colleagues in achieving departmental goals. Participate in educational initiatives for nursing staff and pharmacy trainees. Contribute to formulary management and cost-effective pharmaceutical practices. Stay current with pharmaceutical advancements and disseminate relevant information to the team. Ensure compliance with safety standards in the preparation of hazardous medications. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to enhance patient care strategies. Support operational improvements to optimize medication distribution processes.

Qualifications:

Current pharmacy licensure in the state of Ohio. Completion of an accredited pharmacy program (BS or PharmD). Experience in oncology pharmacy practice or completion of a PGY2 oncology residency is preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in computer systems and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
