Field Supervisor for Streets Response TeamJob Overview:
Under the direction of the Public Services Operations Supervisor, the incumbent will address both urgent and routine matters within the jurisdiction of the Salt Lake City Public Services Department. This role involves direct oversight of team members, including task assignment and scheduling. The supervisor will also provide training, orientation, and continuous support to staff regarding equipment usage, procedural compliance, and safety protocols. Effective communication with other divisions and departments is essential for resolving service requests and ensuring follow-up actions are taken.Compensation:
$35.36/hr, contingent upon qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate assistance for emergency and routine calls from residents and various city departments.
- Evaluate incoming calls to determine the appropriate response level for service requests, including snow and ice management, fire control support, and other public safety issues.
- Serve as a primary contact for after-hours emergencies, making critical decisions regarding responses and resource allocation.
- Operate a variety of city-owned vehicles and equipment, requiring a commercial driver's license.
- Utilize hand tools and power equipment for various maintenance and repair tasks.
- Oversee the maintenance and inventory of team equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for operations.
- Supervise and coordinate the Streets Response Team's activities, maintaining communication with day supervisors.
- Manage personnel assignments and oversee daily operations at work sites.
- Document significant incidents and service requests, preparing reports and work orders as necessary.
- Conduct performance evaluations and training for team members, addressing any workplace issues as they arise.
- Monitor weather conditions and initiate appropriate responses for winter weather management.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and data entry into the city's service request system.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma with four to six years of progressively responsible experience in heavy equipment operation or general maintenance.
- Ability to effectively interact with the public in high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in computer use for report generation and data entry.
- Knowledge of applicable city and state codes and operational standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Valid Class A Utah Commercial Driver's License with Tanker endorsement.
Desired Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience in public works or municipal snow removal operations.
Working Conditions:
- Moderate to heavy physical demands with exposure to various environmental conditions.
- Potential for stress due to emergency response requirements.
- Variable work hours, including on-call responsibilities.
