Overview:
The Information Technology Technician is responsible for delivering tier 1 and tier 2 technical support to staff and students within the Kent Intermediate School District and associated districts that utilize IT services from our technology department. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the availability and functionality of technology resources to enhance the educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to computer systems.
  • Implement and set up new computer hardware.
  • Provide training and support to users on newly adopted software.
  • Repair and maintain laptops and desktop computers.
  • Document repairs and track work within the Help Desk system.
  • Install and configure software according to established specifications.
  • Manage system documentation for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Travel to various educational programs as needed.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards (FERPA).
  • Communicate effectively with staff from Kent ISD and constituent districts, both in writing and verbally.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and vendors to achieve departmental goals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Follow cybersecurity protocols and safeguards.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, as well as Board regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field.
  • Preferred: IT Technician certification (CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified IT Professional).
  • Proficient in desktop installation and troubleshooting across Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and Android platforms; experience with Chrome OS is advantageous.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues remotely.
  • Knowledgeable in Active Directory for user and management functions.
  • Experience with educational and office applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, PowerSchool, Adobe Creative Suite, and others.
  • Capable of resolving a wide range of software and hardware problems, including virus and spyware removal.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Willingness to work after hours for testing and troubleshooting support.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
