We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Public Safety Dispatcher to join our team at the Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Recruiting Unit. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving training in public safety, emergency compliant taking and radio dispatching methods and techniques.

Job Description

You will dispatch personnel and equipment for one or more public safety operations, including Sheriff's Patrol, Fire, Medical, Animal Control Services and Local Government. You will also perform related work as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch personnel and equipment for public safety operations
  • Receive training in public safety, emergency compliant taking and radio dispatching methods and techniques
  • Perform related work as required
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

Education and Experience
  1. The equivalent of six months of experience in the class of Clerk II or an equivalent or higher level class in the Alameda County classified service (Non-classified includes District Attorney's Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.)
  2. Experience that included public contact
  3. Completion of a public safety dispatch training course from an accredited school
  4. Or, six months of general clerical experience that involved public contact
  5. Or, the equivalent of six months of general dispatching experience (such as ambulance, service vehicles, etc.)
  6. Or, the equivalent of one year of general clerical experience that involved public contact
Special Requirements
  • Hearing must be normal in each ear
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute
  • A thorough background investigation will be made of all prospective candidates including a psychological exam

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year.
