Responsibilities:

* Prepare patients for examination and explain procedures and set up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
* Ensure that a consent form for IV contrast materials has been obtained and screens for pregnancy.
* Perform CT procedures to include: abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, etc.
* Prepare patient for exam by placing and positioning patient on exam table within the gantry.
* Adjust and ensure proper slice thickness and couch increment.
* In collaboration with Radiologist, extends parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols.
* Utilize special devices (i.e. bromide shield) to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas (i.e. breast, thyroid, etc.).
* Adjust CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view and transmits cases to on-call Radiologist through use of Tele-Radiology system, as well as administers intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and performs venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
* Explain in layman's terms the administration of IV contrast, and completes the IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by the patient, family member or health care proxy.
* Utilize appropriate flush technique for an existing IV line, if needed and utilizes power injector to administer IV contrast, as well as recognizes and assists in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.

Requirements:

* Vocational or Technical school Diploma required.
* Current License to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in New York State, and Current ARRT Radiology registration required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
* 1-3 years of technical experience, required.

Additional Information:

* The salary range for this position is $65.55/hour.
