Boxing Instructor

Join the City of Commerce, CA team as a Boxing Instructor and contribute to the development of our youth and adult boxing programs.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Boxing Instructor to assist in providing instruction and supervision to participants in our boxing programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in boxing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with individuals of all ages and skill levels.

• Assist in training and instruction of participants in basic boxing techniques, providing a quality competitive environment and motivating young athletes and adults in the sport of boxing.
• Organize and coordinate boxing team practices and physical workouts, ensuring a safe and effective training environment.
• Set up and take down equipment, prepare venues for activities and events, and supervise, instruct, and coach participants.
• Monitor boxing activities during training and practices, evaluate performances, and explain techniques to participants.
• Promote a positive recreation environment and good personal behavior, meeting with the general public, community resource agencies, and other organizations to promote program activities.
• Prevent accidents by enforcing policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of boxing patrons, and monitor activities for individuals who may need assistance or guidance.
• Administer first aid to the injured and call Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on serious accident cases.

• High school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Two (2) years of experience in instructing boxing programs.
• Must obtain Class C with passenger endorsement within 90 days of appointment.
• Must possess certificates for First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• Must be able to work extended hours as needed, often outside regular business hours as required by class schedules.
• May be required to pass a background investigation.
• May be required to work overtime, and evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Must maintain a level of physical fitness to meet Department standards.
