Job Summary

The General Manager - Warehouse/Distribution is responsible for managing the overall financial, operational, and employee aspects of multiple accounts. This individual must ensure that financial, employee, safety, and customer satisfaction goals are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Goal setting, skills assessment, IDPs, career development, performance evaluation, and ongoing employee feedback.
  • Developing direct and indirect reports, providing ongoing employee feedback, and conducting quality and effective selection of qualified personnel.
  • Creating location processes and maintaining SCLM, cross-training of CLS and CLC, and customer satisfaction/problem resolution.
  • Reviewing KPI tracking and improvement, ensuring all staff is trained in Transportation/Distribution Management, and improving employee retention.
  • Reducing the number of accidents against previous year, ensuring unnecessary overtime is reviewed and reduced, and following up on Collision/Team Safety Reporting and Supervisor First Report of Injury reporting.
  • Recommending location process initiation and/or improvement and assigning responsibility to CLC/CLS, conducting ongoing self-audits of location processes and individual accountabilities, and performing SOX invoice reconciliation to FFM designee.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated project management and facilitation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills.
  • Detailed oriented with excellent follow-up practices.
  • Knowledge of truck brokerage, logistics, transportation industry, Ryder Safety Programs, Ryder Financial Reporting and accounting procedures, and RD2000 computer system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or an additional two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Master's degree in related field preferred.
  • Five (5) years or more relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse, or industry-related field required.
  • Five (5) years or more managing, leading, and developing direct reports preferred.
  • Five (5) years or more managing large multi-level teams required.
  • Three (3) years or more demonstrated experience in developing and implementing complete logistics solutions and project management skills required.
  • Three (3) years or more prior experience in leading teams in a LEAN work environment preferred.
  • Three (3) years or more Profit & Loss responsibility preferred.
  • One (1) year or more customer interaction required.
  • One (1) year or more managing customer KPIs required.
