Position Overview:

The Production Planning Specialist plays a crucial role in orchestrating the scheduling and planning of projects related to manufacturing operations and customer requirements. This position is accountable for the formulation, upkeep, and execution of the production timetable. The individual will collaborate closely with the operations manager and various internal stakeholders to oversee resources including materials, equipment, machinery, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Planning (50%):

  • Develop, monitor, and continuously enhance production schedules across all manufacturing sectors.
  • Analyze material usage and release resources to align with production timelines, customer deadlines, and inventory objectives.
  • Coordinate and expedite job schedules as necessary, ensuring effective communication with internal stakeholders regarding customer orders.
  • Participate in forecasting activities and provide insights during forecast review meetings.
  • Lead capacity planning initiatives to meet customer demands effectively.
  • Create metrics to assess production adherence and compliance with established plans.
  • Utilize existing software tools to enhance planning processes, optimize production performance, and minimize setup changes.
  • Facilitate and improve weekly and daily planning meetings.

2. Scheduling (40%):

Manage the sequencing of cut-to-size ceramic glass and framing components, which are vital for production efficiency. This involves close collaboration with internal teams, including operations and engineering.

3. Inventory Management (10%):

Work alongside the inventory management coordinator to maintain optimal inventory levels throughout the supply chain. Monitor inventory status, analyze demand trends, and implement strategies to reduce stockouts and excess inventory.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Operations Management.
  • 3-4 years of relevant professional experience in operations planning, material requirements planning, or forecast development.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably QAD manufacturing system), production planning tools, and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively without direct authority.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience in managing online meetings and conducting training sessions.
  • Results-oriented, adaptable, and open-minded.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
