Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer - Data Science and Machine Learning to join our team. As a key member of our data science and machine learning team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing predictive models, data analytics, and machine learning algorithms to drive business growth and improve customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the research charter for data and decision science, enabling business stakeholders to make data-driven decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve real-world data science problems, analyzing one-off questions and creating reusable solutions
  • Partner with software and data engineers to employ statistical and econometric modeling
  • Develop and deploy highly scalable, low-latency RESTful services to serve models for real-time predictions
  • Work with large datasets, discovering hidden patterns and using data visualization and analysis tools
Requirements
  • Masters or PhD in Statistics, Decision Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience
  • 10+ years of professional experience, with 6+ years in data science, including exploratory data analysis, testing hypotheses, and building prescriptive and predictive models
  • Strong background in advanced mathematics, particularly statistics and probability theory, data mining, and machine learning
  • Expertise in feature engineering, experimentation with A/B testing, statistical modeling, causal inference, visualization techniques, and machine learning to model complex, ambiguous problems
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Previous experience conducting research and creating on-demand reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fraud/risk modeling experience
  • Experience with econometrics
  • Experience with production model development, implementation, and monitoring
  • Experience in an Agile development environment
  • Experience with AWS cloud environment
What We Offer

Blackhawk Network offers a competitive salary range of $133,920 to $180,800 for California residents only. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits including 401(k) with employer match, medical, dental, vision, 12 paid holidays, 1 hour of sick pay accrual for every 30 hours worked, parental leave, life insurance, disability insurance, accident and illness insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, wellness benefits, and flexible time off for all full-time employees.
