Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic I will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of machinery and equipment. This includes a variety of tasks such as electrical repairs, welding, disassembly and reassembly, as well as working with steam, gas, and water pipelines, machining, and carpentry. The role involves setting up, operating, troubleshooting, cleaning, maintaining, and repairing manufacturing equipment to meet production, safety, and quality standards while adhering to established procedures and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance and setup of manufacturing equipment according to process specifications and directives.
- Ensure equipment operates at peak performance in a timely manner.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and recommend enhancements.
- Monitor and evaluate machinery operations to identify malfunctions using various diagnostic tools.
- Test repaired machinery to confirm the effectiveness of repairs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a clean and secure work environment.
- Follow company policies and procedures diligently.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Maintain punctuality and adhere to scheduled hours.
Qualifications:
- A.A. Degree or equivalent technical training.
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical or electrical trades.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Certification to operate a forklift is necessary.
- Demonstrated experience in repairing electric motors, generators, pumps, and HVAC systems.
- Personal hand tools are required; specialized tools will be provided by the company.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to respond promptly and effectively to equipment failures while ensuring safety and quality.
- Capability to guide and mentor equipment operators regarding maintenance and operation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Familiarity with maintenance practices, tools, and materials.
- Understanding of servicing and maintaining basic power and HVAC systems.
- Awareness of safety hazards and precautions related to maintenance work.
The physical demands of this position require the employee to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks. Regular lifting of up to 60 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 120 pounds with assistance is expected.
Vision requirements include the ability to focus closely and adjust vision as needed.
Overtime may be required based on business needs. The role involves working both indoors and outdoors, subject to varying weather conditions, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as necessary.
