Overview

This role is integral to the Office on Youth & Human Services Division, focusing on guiding young individuals through their developmental journey from childhood to adolescence. The Kids' Achieving Progress (KAP) initiative is designed to empower youth, fostering positive decision-making skills that help them reach their full potential. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Youth Program Coordinator will oversee the daily functions at the designated site, ensuring a supportive environment for youth aged 9-14.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all site personnel and volunteers, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures for safety and age-appropriate activities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff and participants, serving as a constructive role model.
  • Design, implement, and manage a program that is developmentally and academically suitable, addressing the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of the participants.
  • Maintain a well-organized, clean, and safe environment for all program activities.
  • Create and uphold a weekly schedule of events and activities.
  • Establish and maintain professional communication with parents and guardians.
  • Keep accurate records of daily attendance and logs.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with sign-in/sign-out procedures.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to foster a positive working relationship.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of utilized spaces.
  • Report pertinent information to the Program Coordinator promptly.
  • Complete necessary reports regarding incidents, injuries, and behaviors.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Time Commitment
  • Availability required Monday through Thursday, with potential for Friday shifts.
  • Working hours from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Minimum of 12 hours per week, with a maximum of 18 hours per week.

Qualifications

High School diploma with a minimum of 2 years of experience working with elementary-aged youth, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment medical/drug screening and background check.
  • Knowledge of child development principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
