Position Overview:


The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering direct patient care, addressing both psychological and physical needs in alignment with the care plan, physician's directives, and nursing protocols.

Patients may range from neonates to geriatrics, with care provided in various settings including inpatient, outpatient, home health, or hospice.

Key Responsibilities:


- Collaborates in the creation and upkeep of a personalized, goal-oriented care plan, consulting with other healthcare professionals to ensure that the needs of patients and caregivers are effectively met.


- Monitors, evaluates, documents, and communicates patient responses to treatments and educational efforts, adjusting care priorities based on patient and caregiver requirements.

- Gathers, records, and communicates essential data regarding the patient's biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs to the responsible physician or registered nurse.


- Engages in unit, service, and departmental enrichment initiatives that contribute to positive patient outcomes, including participation in committees, quality improvement activities, and the training of new staff.


- Administers a comprehensive range of treatments and therapies, including respiratory care, suctioning, tracheostomy management, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, and intravenous infusion management.

- Provides assistance to patients and families during the admission process, orienting them to the healthcare experience and facilitating discharge planning.


- Offers emotional support to patients and families, employing de-escalation techniques for anxious or potentially aggressive individuals, and promoting age-appropriate coping strategies.


Additional Information:

Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from a state-accredited practical nursing program is required.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid license to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of North Carolina and possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Professional Experience Requirements:

  • No prior experience is necessary.
