Role Summary:
The Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for administering anesthesia to patients undergoing various procedures, including surgical, medical, obstetrical, diagnostic, psychiatric, or resuscitative interventions. This role involves the use of general, regional, or monitored anesthesia techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments of patients, ensuring timely and efficient evaluations.
2. Develop comprehensive anesthesia care plans, documenting assessments and plans clearly.
3. Communicate care details, including risks and benefits, to patients and their families.
4. Assemble necessary equipment and medications for anesthesia administration.
5. Meet departmental quality metrics, including turnover times and on-time starts.
6. Engage in ongoing education and professional development, participating in committees and contributing to the training of healthcare professionals.
7. Drive performance improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement in patient outcomes and participating in data collection efforts.
8. Maintain accurate anesthesia records and reports in a clear and organized manner.
9. Administer anesthesia safely, adhering to established standards of care, and respond appropriately to any abnormal situations during procedures.
Additional Information:
Education:
Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program recognized by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a valid license as an Advanced Practice Provider (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in North Carolina, with board certification as required.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary for this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in anesthesia practices and patient care.
