Job Title: Manager, Data Migration

gWorks is seeking an experienced Manager, Data Migration to lead our data migration initiatives and manage a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, people management, and software engineering, with a deep understanding of data migration processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee multiple data migration projects from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of data migration engineers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, software engineers, data engineers, and IT teams to align project objectives with business goals.
  • Own the data migration strategy, architecture, and execution, working with technical leads to ensure smooth and secure data migration processes.
  • Identify and address potential risks and issues during migration processes, proactively mitigating challenges before they impact project outcomes.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or IT roles.
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams in a data migration, software development, or IT environment.
  • Experience with project management, Kanban, and/or Agile methodologies and practices.
  • Experience with AWS data migration services (e.g., AWS DMS, Glue).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with security and compliance standards related to data (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Success Metrics:
  • Timely Project Delivery: Successful completion of data migration projects within the defined timelines, ensuring on-time delivery while maintaining quality standards.
  • Team Performance & Development: Demonstrating effective leadership by achieving high team performance, fostering a collaborative environment, and successfully mentoring and developing the team members.
  • Data Accuracy & Compliance: Maintaining data integrity throughout the migration process, ensuring zero data loss, and adherence to security and compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
Work Arrangement:

gWorks is a hybrid work environment, and preference will be given to candidates who are local to the Omaha, Nebraska area. However, highly qualified candidates who reside outside of the local area and are able to work remotely will also be considered.
