ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
This position presents a rewarding, varied, and stimulating opportunity to join our Maintenance team. Generally, all Electrical Technician roles are tasked with the repair, installation, replacement, programming, and testing of all electrical circuits and equipment. Occasionally, you will perform or assist others in routine to moderately complex repairs or installations of automatic electrical and electronic controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine electrical/electronic preventative maintenance on mill machinery.
- Oversee the repair, modification, and upkeep of various electrical and electronic systems.
- Engage in tasks such as wiring circuits, component replacement, and electronic device repairs.
- Perform test readings using a variety of instruments, including multi-meters and Meggers.
- Stay updated on technical advancements or equipment designs by attending relevant training sessions.
- Work rotating shifts, which may include nights, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations, including the use of safety equipment and completion of all necessary training.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
- Foundation in electrical fundamentals.
- Knowledge of three-phase and single-phase power distribution systems, motor controls, wiring, and troubleshooting of such systems.
- Experience with 480-volt power and logic circuits.
- Strong computer, mathematical, analytical, and planning abilities.
- Ability to proficiently interpret and follow electrical schematics without supervision.
- Familiarity with machine control systems.
- Capability to troubleshoot complex machine control systems.
- Ability to identify features and functions of controllers.
- Ability to describe and compare pneumatic and electronic controllers.
- Ability to trace the signal path through a control circuit.
- A combination of higher education and experience will be considered.
- Eligibility to work legally in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Willingness to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Availability for emergency call-ins when necessary.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to cross-train to acquire new skills and knowledge.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with VFD drives.
- Familiarity with PLC systems.
- Ability to interpret PLC logic as it relates to troubleshooting processes and equipment.
