Job Summary

The American Bridge Company is seeking a highly skilled Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our financial operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the company's indirect tax compliance by filing returns and addressing notices in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze monthly sales and use tax activity and file corresponding tax returns
  • Assist with sales and use tax audits and provide expert advice to ensure compliance
  • File personal property returns for the company's various locations and ensure accurate reporting
  • Calculate and file franchise tax returns for the company's various entities and manage tax compliance activity
  • Track monthly tax compliance activity via the company's tax calendar and identify areas for improvement
  • Manage business license annual updates and ensure timely renewal
  • Research taxability of transactions for operational and estimating staff and provide guidance on tax implications
  • File gross receipts tax, value-added tax, and business occupational taxes and ensure accurate reporting
  • Assist with filing various payroll reports including federal, state, local, and Canadian filings and ensure compliance
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis and provide expert advice
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of experience in tax compliance and indirect taxes
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities and foreign currency a plus
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience with accounting systems such as JD Edwards

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize to meet project objectives

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
