Job Description

**Job Summary**

The Tax Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the American Bridge Company's indirect tax compliance by filing returns and addressing notices in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly sales and use tax activity and file corresponding tax returns
  • Assist with sales and use tax audits
  • File personal property returns for the Company's various locations
  • Calculate and file franchise tax returns for the Company's various entities
  • Track monthly tax compliance activity via the company's tax calendar
  • Manage business license annual updates
  • Research taxability of transactions for operational and estimating staff
  • File gross receipts tax, value-added tax, and business occupational taxes
  • Assist with filing various payroll reports including federal, state, local, and Canadian filings
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of experience in tax compliance
  • Experience with indirect taxes
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities and foreign currency a plus
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience with accounting systems such as JD Edwards

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, reporting tools related to databases. Must have the ability to learn Accounting and Electronic Content Management software programs.
