About this RoleThe Engineering Director will be instrumental in managing the engineering components of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. You will lead a skilled team of engineers, offering strategic direction, technical expertise, and project oversight to ensure the effective implementation of BESS initiatives. This position requires substantial engineering experience, with a minimum of two years specifically in the BESS field. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong leadership background in engineering, possess an in-depth understanding of the BESS industry, and have a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that fulfill client requirements and industry benchmarks.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Team Development:
• Direct and oversee the engineering team, providing mentorship and support.
• Offer technical guidance and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within engineering teams.
• Collaborate with various departments, including operations, project management, and sales, to ensure alignment of engineering initiatives with corporate goals.
• Promote innovation and efficiency in engineering methodologies, utilizing new technologies and best practices to enhance project outcomes.Project Oversight:
• Formulate and execute strategic plans to meet engineering department objectives in line with Quanta's business strategy.
• Supervise the design, development, and execution of BESS projects.
• Ensure timely project delivery within budget constraints while meeting or exceeding technical and quality standards.
• Work in conjunction with project managers to guarantee seamless project execution and integration.Technical Leadership and Innovation:
• Provide expert technical leadership in the development of BESS solutions.
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in BESS and renewable energy.
• Champion innovation in engineering processes, tools, and technologies to improve project results.Quality Assurance and Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to industry codes, standards, and regulations in all engineering designs and practices.
• Oversee the evaluation and approval of engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure precision, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct regular assessments and audits to uphold the highest quality and safety standards.Resource Management:
• Manage the allocation and utilization of engineering resources, including personnel, tools, and technology.
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and consultants to support engineering activities.Reporting and Documentation:
• Prepare and present comprehensive technical reports, project updates, and performance metrics to senior management.
• Maintain thorough documentation of engineering processes, designs, and project records.
Education and Experience
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years in engineering, with a proven record of leading engineering teams and projects.
• At least 2 years of experience specifically in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, NEC, NESC, and others. Skills: Strong leadership and team management capabilities, in-depth knowledge of BESS technologies, excellent project management and organizational skills, ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in engineering software and tools, including CAD and simulation software.
