The Credit Risk Review Manager is pivotal in formulating, strategizing, and implementing a quarterly examination framework aimed at ensuring the safety and soundness of the Company's residential mortgage lending operations. This role encompasses leading initiatives that assess the integrity of credit and correspondent counterparty risk management protocols within the residential mortgage divisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit a profound understanding of the residential mortgage lending landscape, including retail and correspondent lending, servicing rights, secondary market dynamics, government-sponsored enterprises, and applicable federal regulations.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive examination model that identifies and evaluates the effectiveness of credit and counterparty risk management processes.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of portfolio and correspondent counterparty risks.
  • Perform independent risk evaluations of both new and existing residential mortgage products and lending initiatives.
  • Document and report quarterly examination findings, highlighting any discrepancies or deficiencies in a clear and constructive manner.
  • Monitor credit risk within residential lending portfolios to detect asset quality declines or adverse management trends, ensuring compliance with credit policies and regulations.
  • Identify emerging risk areas through proactive examination processes that pinpoint leading indicators of potential credit risks.
  • Analyze management information systems (MIS) data to detect unfavorable trends in performance indicators.
  • Communicate sensitive issues and examination results effectively and collaboratively.
  • Cultivate internal relationships that foster a culture of trust and collaboration.
  • Provide technical guidance on credit policies and best practices to enhance quality and consistency across business units.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise-wide credit policies and Internal Credit Risk Review standards.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in residential mortgage credit risk, ideally with a background in underwriting and risk management.
  • Completion of a formal credit training program is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of commercial credit principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial statements, accounting practices, and cash flow analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a capacity to develop viable solutions to complex issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations and prudent lending policies.
  • Proficient in evaluating probability of default (PD) and loss given default (LGD) analyses.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
