Position Overview

As an Auto Glass Technician Apprentice, you will embark on a journey to master the art of repairing and replacing damaged automotive glass. Working closely with an experienced Mentor, you will develop a solid understanding of quality standards and procedures in accordance with Caliber Auto Glass guidelines. This role serves as an excellent entry point into the automotive industry, providing essential training and hands-on experience.

Compensation

Our Auto Glass Technician Apprentices can earn up to:

  • $18/hr

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while building strong relationships and ensuring operational excellence.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and effectively manage multiple tasks in a dynamic automotive setting.
  • Complete all required training and certifications, including ongoing education.
  • Acquire knowledge of automotive glass replacement techniques.
  • Conduct repairs on chipped windshields.
  • Learn to perform thorough pre and post-inspections with customers.
  • Utilize various tools and diagnostic equipment as needed.
  • Document repair orders accurately using mobile devices.
  • Assist in the removal and installation of trim panels and interior components without causing damage.
  • Support mentor technicians with daily operational tasks.
  • Manage parts check-in and communicate scheduling with urgency.
  • Prioritize and manage time effectively to complete assigned duties.
  • Work in both outdoor and shop environments.
  • Ensure vehicles are free of glass debris and excess materials resulting from repairs.
  • Conduct final inspections with customers and obtain necessary signatures on paperwork.
  • Complete all administrative tasks and collect payments upon job completion.
  • Be accountable for assigned inventory, including vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A strong desire to learn a skilled trade.
  • High school diploma or equivalent technical school education.
  • Prior automotive repair experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in using computers, mobile devices, and related technology.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a customer-centric approach.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds independently.
  • Willingness to travel for training and certification purposes.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, and bending.
  • Frequent driving of company and customer vehicles is required.
  • Extensive travel within the assigned area is expected.
  • May encounter fumes, dust, and chemicals during work.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, both in a shop and mobile environment.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment, including facial coverings, eye protection, and gloves.
