As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for developing methodologies and performing analyses to demonstrate the safety of the SMR-160 small modular reactor.
Key Responsibilities- Develop analytical methods and models for a range of anticipated operational occurrences, design basis accidents, and beyond design basis accidents.
- Perform simulations and code benchmarking to support code qualification and methodology development.
- Conduct pre- and post-test analyses to support Separate Effects and Integral Systems Tests.
- Develop methodology reports, design criteria, and licensing documentation to support licensing actions.
- Interact with regulators to explain methods, models, and analyses.
- Collaborate with other engineering groups to support the overall design and licensing efforts.
- Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Work experience with associated systems, design, and analysis of nuclear power plants.
- Ability to solve problems and make sound engineering judgments.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Eligibility to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
- Master's or Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of experience performing safety analysis calculations using industry computer codes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. NRC regulations.
- Strong understanding of thermal hydraulic behavior of nuclear power plants.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills through licensing topical reports or safety analysis reports.
