Job Opportunity

Holtec International is seeking highly motivated individuals to join its nuclear analysis group in South Jersey. This role requires a strong background in nuclear engineering and physics, with the ability to work on a wide range of technical and regulatory topics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform criticality and shielding analyses of spent fuel storage pools and dry cask storage systems for domestic and international clients
  • Design, model, and analyze nuclear cores, and evaluate fuel cycle performance for the SMR-300 passive, natural circulation, integral light water reactor
  • Prepare and review reports, and participate in meetings with clients and the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission
  • Validate and verify computer code, and demonstrate analytical skills with CASMO/SIMULATE, MCNP, or other similar analysis code packages

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics from an accredited institution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • General knowledge of nuclear power plant operations and physics
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with CASMO/SIMULATE, MCNP, or other similar analysis code packages

Desired Attributes:

  • PhD in Nuclear Engineering with emphasis on reactor physics or radiation transport analysis
  • 2+ years of experience in the nuclear industry, with a focus on engineering calculations and evaluations
  • Experience with computer codes such as MCNP, SIMULATE, KENO, SCALE, and/or CASMO
  • Experience with computer languages such as Python or Awk
  • Experience preparing licensing documents for submission to the NRC
  • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NUREG-0800 (NRC Standard Review Plan for LWRs) Chapter 4 and 15 requirements
