Job Summary

Join the County of San Diego's Air Pollution Control District as an Air Pollution Control Aide - Field. This role involves performing a variety of office and technical field work in support of air pollution control professional staff, including researching, analyzing, compiling, and recording air pollution control data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collects and installs various types of sample media
  • Drives to and from various sampling locations throughout the County of San Diego
  • Performs various station and shop activities, including cleaning equipment, preparing and scheduling items for shipment/pick-up, and maintaining inventory
  • Reviews forms for accuracy and completeness and reviews written reports for proper coding and accuracy
Requirements
  • Completion of thirty (30) semester units of college study from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency including at least ten (10) units of coursework in physical or life science, mathematics or computer science, AND one (1) year of full-time work experience, or its part-time equivalent, performing data collection, analysis, data verification, and report preparation in a technical field; OR
  • Two (2) years of full-time work experience performing data collection, analysis, data verification, and report preparation in a technical field that involved interpreting laws, regulations, and standards for an industrial business or public agency
Working Conditions

The working conditions for this position include but are not limited to the following: exposure to computer screens and other office equipment, work around electronic/electrical equipment and machinery, walking on uneven ground, exposure to excessive noise, extremes in temperature, humidity, or wetness, exposure to dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals, working at heights, and may be required to use special visual, auditory, foot and leg personal protective equipment. May also require weekend and holiday work.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements for Air Pollution Control Aide - Field include but are not limited to the following: frequent hand grasping and lifting of objects weighing less than 10 pounds, lifting objects weighing up to 70 pounds with assistance, and may drive in excess of 100 miles per day.
