Director of Social Work

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Social Work to lead our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing professional standards and policies for the Social Work department, ensuring that clinical supervision is provided to all department staff, and interfacing with hospital management, staff, and patients.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise clinical coordinators, including providing individual clinical supervision as required by licensure.
  • Carry a minimum case load and provide additional support and consultation to clinical coordinators with complex cases.
  • Assist with behavioral programming for eligible patients.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments within 72 hours of patient arrival and document progress notes for individual sessions.
  • Develop and conduct groups as determined by patient population needs.
  • Monitor insurance requirements and keep utilization reviewer and other treatment team members current with patient progress.
  • Perform case management functions as needed.
  • Attend and participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings.
  • Supervise social work students as assigned.
  • Coordinate scheduling of clinical activity with other staff to minimize conflicts.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude during internal and external communication and interactions.
  • Provide in-service training as necessary for enhancement of medical record documentation.
  • Monitor and evaluate records for quality of care and collaborate with treatment teams for positive outcomes.
  • Update Social Services policies as required.
  • Provide administrative coverage on a rotational on-call schedule.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work.
  • District of Columbia License LICSW (current) and must maintain as a condition of continued employment.
  • Two to five years of experience in a mental health setting.
  • Previous psychiatric inpatient experience preferred.
  • Previous clinical supervision experience preferred.
