POSITION SUMMARY

We are excited to present the opportunity to join the County of DuPage as a Community Resource Advisor within the Department of Community Services. This role is integral to our call center operations, focusing on social services by addressing inquiries for assistance, collecting, analyzing, and assessing data related to community needs, and facilitating suitable referrals.

This position is grant funded.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Guiding individuals in identifying specific needs and challenges.
  • Conducting eligibility screenings for programs or services via phone or in-person interactions.
  • Managing multiple phone lines, including a comprehensive information and referral service.
  • Completing assessments with clients, gathering demographic, income, asset, and needs information.
  • Inputting demographic and assessment data into various databases.
  • Assisting clients with application processes, scheduling appointments, and locating appropriate referrals.
  • Providing advocacy and short-term crisis intervention for individuals in distress, directing them to suitable resources.
  • Distributing resource information through mail, text, or email, and following up to ensure client needs are met.
  • Offering guidance on health insurance options.
  • Conducting inquiries and basic research to identify available services.
  • Compiling data on call volumes, follow-ups, referral sources, and preparing reports for supervisory review.
  • Creating and presenting public information materials and educational workshops, representing the unit with service providers.
  • Participating in meetings and programs related to social service initiatives supported by the County.
  • Engaging in community outreach through public speaking and educational workshops.
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Qualifications:
  • Completion of an Associate's Degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a call center, customer service, crisis intervention, information and referral, or social services role.
  • Must obtain an Inform USA (formerly AIRS) Certification, with the timeframe for certification dependent on education level and prior experience.
  • Must secure a Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) certification within one (1) year of hire.
A pre-employment background check is required.
