Job Summary

The Hospice Aide is a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, working under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide personalized care and support to patients and their families. This role requires a compassionate and empathetic individual who can deliver high-quality care while promoting comfort and dignity.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide personal care services, including bathing, grooming, and dressing, as assigned.
  2. Assist patients with feeding, ambulation, and exercise, as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapist.
  3. Take and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, as ordered.
  4. Monitor patient skin integrity and prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominences.
  5. Document observations and care provided, adhering to our organization's documentation and care procedures.
  6. Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in hospice or palliative care, or training in end-of-life care.
  • An active hospice aide certification with the state.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Work Environment

The work environment for this role is typically quiet, with minimal distractions. You will be working in a fast-paced healthcare setting, requiring flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of our patients and families.

Physical Demands

This role requires frequent sitting and use of hands to perform tasks. You will occasionally be required to stand and walk, and may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
