Position Summary:

The role involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical systems associated with Steam and Electric utility generation within the Eastman Business Park for RED-Rochester, LLC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding the operational status, performance, and requirements of your designated area with the RED-Rochester team supervisor, maintenance planner, and operations personnel. Ensure all customer concerns are promptly addressed and communicated.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to establish standard preventive maintenance protocols to maximize equipment uptime and longevity for all relevant systems.
  • Assist in formulating corrective maintenance job plans to ensure timely completion of repairs, thereby maintaining system redundancies for optimal emergency performance.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Planner on all shutdown planning (both routine and emergency) to facilitate maintenance activities, including notifications to end-users.
  • Execute all planned maintenance tasks for assigned locations, documenting actions within the RED-Rochester work order management system (MAXIMO).
  • Complete all assigned corrective maintenance tasks, ensuring documentation is maintained within the RED-Rochester work order management system (MAXIMO).
  • Supervise, lead, or execute any assigned equipment overhaul, upgrade, or modernization activities as per the relevant equipment competencies.
  • Oversee any external contractors working within your assigned area to ensure adherence to RED-Rochester safety standards and workmanship quality.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental Plans pertinent to assigned locations.
  • Participate in larger team efforts during major emergencies or catastrophic failures as required.
  • Utilize various tools and equipment, including hoists, pulleys, dollies, rollers, trucks, overhead cranes, and rigging, as well as lathes and shop equipment.
  • Potentially operate equipment such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, and power walkies.

Equipment Expertise:

  • All sizes of pumps, from single-stage low-pressure centrifugal to multi-stage high-pressure (up to and beyond 2000 PSI).
  • Main plant multi-stage air compressors (>5000 scfm).
  • Steam turbines used for driving various utility generation rotating equipment.
  • Gas turbines (up to 35,000 sHP) – future projects.
  • Auxiliary systems including lubrication, fuel oil, fuel gas, hydrogen cooling, hydraulic oil, speed control, and various cooling water and storage systems.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills, both conceptual and practical.
  • Ability to adhere to procedures, work instructions, and safety/environmental regulations.
  • Capability to interpret and understand technical drawings and schematics related to all systems.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant utilities mechanic or millwork experience (or equivalent military service experience).
  • Preferred but not mandatory: Applicable Associate's or Bachelor's degree.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must obtain necessary safety operator licenses for fork truck, man lift, and scissor lift within 12 months (Employer Provided).
  • Immediate acquisition of OSHA 10-hour certification.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required within 12 months.
  • Must possess a valid NYS driver's license without restrictions.

Work Environment:

  • Industrial setting, including power and treatment plants.
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Workspaces may involve exposure to chemicals, noise, and dirt.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, with all necessary PPE and safety training provided.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position entails strenuous activities, including climbing, crawling, and moving materials.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs as needed.
