Job Summary

The Chemical Process Specialist will be responsible for managing chemistry programs, reviewing data, monitoring performance, communicating with other station departments, maintaining regulatory compliance, writing reports, managing special projects, training personnel, maintaining analytical and radio analytical instrumentation, maintaining in-line instrumentation, maintaining quality control, and participating in the GSEP and duty rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage chemistry programs, including review and analysis of chemistry data, plant walkdowns, and participation in plant troubleshooting plans.

• Monitor and maintain chemistry performance parameters, comparing against technical and administrative limits with respect to plant systems performance.

• Communicate with station management and other station departments regarding chemistry issues.

• Manage special projects as required.

• Participate in the training program, preparing and delivering lesson plans associated with chemistry, observing and participating in classroom training activities.

• Participate in the GSEP and duty rotation, subject to call out as required in support of station requirements.

• Participate in the Station Oversight Committee (SOC).

Requirements

• Four-year degree in chemistry or a related field and two years of experience as a Chemist 1 or directly related experience, or five years of directly applicable experience, or achieved Chemistry Technician qualification with five years of Nuclear chemistry experience, or Navy ELT.

• For the Sr Chemist position, a four-year BS Chemistry or related degree and a minimum of five years of Chemistry experience, or achieved Chemistry Technician qualification or Navy ELT with two years of experience in Chemistry, or eight years of nuclear plant experience with a minimum of five years in operations, chemistry, or radwaste.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related science.

• Technical experience related to specific chemistry program assignments, such as radiochemistry, primary chemistry, raw water experience.

• Three years of professional-level experience in Chemistry at a commercial nuclear power plant.

• Eight years of nuclear plant experience with a minimum of five years in operations, chemistry, or radwaste.
