Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Crouse Hospital. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in the education and treatment of our patients, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with patients and family members to explain therapy rationale and provide education.
  • Respond to emergency calls and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed, implementing emergency oxygen and arterial blood gas protocols.
  • Draw routine and emergency arterial blood gases and interpret results to monitor patient respiratory and ventilatory status.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot adult, pediatric, and neonatal ventilators, changing ventilator tubing and other respiratory equipment as necessary.
  • Provide oxygen therapy according to physician orders, perform oximetry readings to determine oxygen saturation, and complete micro-draws where appropriate.
  • Evaluate, set up, and monitor patients receiving Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NIPPV) and BIPAP assistance.
Requirements
  • Two-year Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care from an AMA-approved program.
  • Current New York State License as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire.
  • Pediatric Advances Life Support (PALS) required within one year of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and healthcare-related IT programs.

Hourly Rate Range: $28.80 - $43.80/hour, based on verified education and experience.
