Job Summary

Virginia Oncology Associates is seeking a skilled Medical Scribe to support our Norfolk office. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our cancer care and blood disorders services.

Responsibilities

  • Follow physicians through their workday and accurately chart patient encounters in real-time using our Electronic Health Record system.
  • Generate referral letters, manage and sort medical documents, and assist with e-prescribing.
  • Apply knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to transcribe and proofread medical dictation from originators.
  • Transcribe physician dictation, including notes, letters, history and physical reports, hospital dismissal/interval notes, and sign-out lists.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous medical scribe experience is strongly preferred.
  • Clinical/healthcare experience in oncology/hematology is a plus.
  • Typing speed of at least 60 wpm and G2 or other EMR experience are desirable.
  • CMT certification is preferred.
