About the Role

Cyclyx is seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Houston, TX. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for all accounting processes for our plant operations.

This is an in-plant role with the possibility for hybrid work, and you will be involved in the plant build-out and initial testing to track costs from the very beginning. You will work closely with our Controller and plant management structure to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the setup and management of our ERP system, Dynamics 365
  • Manage manufacturing accounting within the ERP system
  • Conduct detailed reviews to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP
  • Analyze and provide accounting support for sourced plastics and plastic feedstock
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including construction in progress and placed in service
  • Develop and maintain product standard costs during the budget process and throughout the year
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to maintain accurate inventory costing and counts
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of inventory and associated reporting
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of inventory to prepare for capitalization of variances and review inventory balances for potential obsolescence
  • Manage fixed asset records, track capital spend, and report on projects once completed
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Assist other members of the Finance Department on ad hoc projects as needed
Requirements
  • 5+ years of accounting and/or related experience
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience required
  • Ability to work well with multi-departmental teams
  • Thorough understanding of accounting procedures and GAAP
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail
  • Effective communication, including writing, speaking, and active listening
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet reasonable deadlines
  • Ability to manage confidential information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail and deadline-oriented
  • Highly organized
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Word and Outlook skills
