Position Summary:
We are looking for a full-time Lead Geotechnical Consultant with over 6 years of expertise in the field to support our Geotechnical Engineering Division in our New York City office. Our Geotechnical Division is dedicated to conducting subsurface investigations, inspections, technical analyses, and ensuring compliance with municipal regulations. This role is crucial in managing a diverse range of projects for both municipal and private sector clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulating scopes of work for proposals.
- Evaluating engineering design analyses related to bearing pressures, settlement assessments, deep foundation evaluations, liquefaction, site-specific seismic designs, slope stability, seepage analysis, and excavation support.
- Overseeing junior staff during subsurface exploration activities.
- Reviewing engineering analyses conducted by junior staff, including assessments for slope stability, settlement, deep foundation design, excavation support, and soil liquefaction.
- Compiling engineering reports that assess field and laboratory results in accordance with relevant building codes.
- Providing oversight for special inspections related to deep foundation testing, subgrade inspections, controlled filling, in-place density testing, and the installation of underpinning and excavation support systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (post-graduate education with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous).
- Current NYS Professional Engineering license (or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months).
- Strong writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively on projects for public and private clients.
- Demonstrated practical and progressive experience.
- OSHA training (10-hour, 30-hour, or 40-hour) is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
- Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software such as Slide, APile, LPile, All-Pile, WEAP, CivilTech Shoring Suite, Deep EX, PLAXIS, Shake 2000, and other advanced modeling tools is a plus.
