Key Responsibilities

As a KIPP Nashville Support Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Flexible Student Support: Primarily serving as an in-building Substitute Teacher, you will engage adaptively with students based on their needs as determined by the Principal. This may involve covering classrooms, facilitating small group interventions, assisting with classroom transitions, conducting observations, and supporting school-wide procedures such as lunch and dismissal.
Curriculum Development and Instruction
  • Design and implement effective instructional strategies, activities, and materials that cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
Commitment to School Culture
  • Collaborate with your school team and colleagues across KIPP Nashville.
  • Contribute to developing a school culture that meets the needs of students, teachers, and families.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and maintain open communication with staff.
  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Create a supportive and calm learning environment.
  • Uphold and model the school's values and student management policies.
Family Engagement
  • Maintain strong communication with families as needed.
  • Be present at open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and other family-related events.
  • Be accessible to students, parents, and fellow staff members.

Qualifications

Desired Experience:

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license or a clear pathway to state certification (Highly Preferred).
  • Commitment to serving students from educationally under-resourced communities.
  • Bachelor's degree (Required).
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.
  • Experience and proven success in teaching students from educationally under-resourced communities (Highly Preferred).

Compensation

Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance and long-term disability coverage, voluntary medical and dental plans, retirement benefits, and annual salary increases. To ensure equitable salary practices, compensation is based on the regional KIPP Nashville Public Schools pay scale. This position is exempt and follows a 10-month schedule.
