This role is pivotal in supporting the management team to ensure adherence to Ideal Chemical's Environmental Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) Regulatory Programs. These programs encompass various regulatory frameworks, including EPA (air, water, and waste), OSHA (safety and risk management), DOT (Rail, Truck, and Driver Compliance), Homeland Security, FDA, DEA, USMCA, among others.

The EHS Compliance Coordinator collaborates closely with the Regulatory Affairs Manager and Operations Management. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing tasks aimed at achieving regulatory compliance objectives by preparing and submitting necessary reports and permits.
  • Conducting employee training sessions and gaining a thorough understanding of applicable regulations.
  • Performing audits to ensure compliance with regulations and generating detailed reports with recommendations for improvements.
  • Facilitating classroom training in compliance programs as mandated by governmental bodies or company policies.
  • Evaluating new chemicals for potential hazards and advising on safe handling, exposure risks, PPE, and storage requirements.
  • Updating the ERP system with relevant product hazard information, including DOT, SARA, OSHA, and other necessary data.
  • Drafting Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labels for internal products.
  • Maintaining a calendar of report and permit deadlines to ensure timely submissions.
  • Representing the organization in community or industry safety initiatives.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The following qualifications are essential:

  • Strong ability to interpret and apply regulations effectively.
  • Proven capability to fulfill essential duties satisfactorily, with knowledge of chemicals considered advantageous.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, physical or biological sciences, or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience in an EHS&S compliance role within a manufacturing or distribution environment may substitute for educational requirements.
  • A combination of education and experience may also be considered.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: The following language skills are necessary:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical documents, financial reports, and legal texts.
  • Capable of responding to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
  • Skilled in writing articles and presentations that adhere to prescribed formats.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information to various staff levels.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: The following mathematical skills are required:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including probability, statistical inference, and basic geometry.
  • Application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical scenarios.

REASONING ABILITY: The following reasoning skills are essential:

  • Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Capability to interpret complex technical instructions and manage various abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is representative of conditions encountered while performing essential job functions. Employees may work in areas where hazardous materials are handled and may require personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and outdoor weather conditions may occur. The noise level is typically moderate.

QUALITY: All employees are responsible for initiating and verifying corrective actions related to product and service quality. Each individual is accountable for the quality of their work.
