Job Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

Responsibilities:
  • You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Program
  • Licensed by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Nevada State license to perform arterial blood gases
  • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care and the Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) credential
  • Current BLS required
  • Current ACLS required
  • Current PALS required
  • Current NRP required
  • Requires one year's experience in an acute care facility or freestanding practice with must have current/recent acute care Respiratory Therapist experience within the last six months
  • Requires Critical Care and Ventilator Management experience in Adult and Pediatric/Neonatal setting
  • Prefer experience with ABGs, EKGs, ICU, preceptor experience, venous puncture, and line maintenance

Southern Hills Hospital is a 260+ bed acute care hospital. We provide emergency and pediatric emergency services. Our facility also offers a behavioral health unit serving teens and adults, an accredited Chest Pain Center, a Certified Primary Stroke Center and a dedicated orthopedic and spine unit. In addition, Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center provides women with top level care with our OB-GYN, Level II NICU, diagnostic imaging and surgical services.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly wage estimate of $42.41 - $63.23 per hour.
