Job Description

**Job Summary**

The Assistant Store Manager is a key member of the store team, responsible for supporting the Store Manager in achieving store goals and objectives. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, lead by example, and train sales team members to deliver outstanding customer experiences.
  • Budgets & Payroll: Drive store sales and profit to exceed budget, control costs, and schedule payroll to meet company objectives.
  • Inventory Control: Ensure accurate inventory movement, maintain proper inventory levels, and store merchandise in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Safety & Loss Prevention: Maintain a safe and secure working environment, conduct regular safety meetings, and protect inventory against loss and theft.
  • Employee Relations: Foster a team environment, promote open communication, and provide resources to help associates succeed in their roles.
  • Communication: Maintain compliance with company policy, report unusual occurrences, and contribute to monthly store meetings to discuss performance and goals.
  • Coaching & Training: Provide feedback on employee performance, implement corrective measures, and direct associates to training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage with limited supervision
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Mathematical and general business skills to understand and interpret data
  • Strong working knowledge of retail building materials, home improvement, and hardware products
  • Previous retail experience preferred
  • Able to manage physical assets and perform physical work
