Cayuga Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by testing and analyzing blood and other body substances.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and test specimens, including proficiency testing and manual procedures, and report results according to protocol
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex laboratory equipment
- Utilize complex information systems to collect and interpret data
- Perform and interpret quality control measures
- Maintain a compliant laboratory environment, adhering to all relevant standards and guidelines
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and Registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
- Licensure: Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist
- Experience: Prior laboratory experience is preferred
- Problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes
- May require light lifting and carrying, including boxes and equipment
- Repetitive use of hands, sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time
